That’s the end of the (Tuscan) road… 🤓🍇🍷 After a very relaxing nine days spent with family in the Tuscan countryside, it’s time to return stateside, but not without a farewell drink (or 10!). 🤣 🍷 🥹

It’s been a great experience with so many magical moments. It felt good to be away and I’m grateful for the opportunity to recharge.

I’m also very optimistic about the progress that has been made while I’ve been away. It’s exciting to watch this legislation unfold and I look forward to pursuing numerous projects with renewed energy.

And we’re off… 🧳 🚖 After arriving in Florence last Saturday, with mid-week trips to Venice & Rome, we’re headed to the second leg of our trip to visit family in the Tuscan countryside.

This podcast series with @abernadette11 , Chair of @nycfairtrade , is definitely one of the highlights of 2021!

Couldn’t be happier with these results that reflect perfectly my very personal thoughts around the state of sustainability and fair trade, both in the fashion industry and in the world-at-large.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with @abernadette11 , a fair trade advocate, educator, and business owner. Andrea teaches fashion marketing, international trade, and business development at Baruch College, LIM College, and the Fashion Institute of Technology.

As a fellow fair trade advocate, I have the greatest respect for Andrea. She has managed to steer the NYC FTC admirably through the Covid crisis and, on the heels of this crisis, launched the Sustainable Fashion Community Center in Harlem, NYC, bringing a clothing swap, fair trade gift shop, garden, internship program, mending station, and endless calendar of community events to this two-story retail space.

The @nycfairtrade Coalition promotes fair trade businesses and retailers in #NYC and educates consumers on the importance of fair trade.

My relationship with this organization began back in 2019 when @cielpower produced and sponsored a sustainable fashion show at the Reeves Reed Arboretum in Summit, New Jersey.

I have always remained connected to the NYC FTC through our membership and participating in events but now to cooperate in multiple creative ways with a dynamic and extremely capable hands-on leader like Andrea - who also happens to be a wonderful person- is both exciting and rewarding. Watch out for great things to come!

It’s wonderful to be working with this talented and inspiring group of professionals!

Over the past two weeks, @kearnyptstudio played host to the @enactus World Cup 2021.

Enactus is the largest experiential learning platform dedicated to creating a better world while developing the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators.

Each year, the National Champion Enactus teams from around the world meet at the Enactus World Cup where they present the results of their community outreach projects to a prestigious group of international business leaders.

The event, held virtually this year from our studio at @kearnypoint , focuses on the positive power of business, entrepreneurial action, and social innovation to address the most important issues affecting the world which align with the framework of the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Global Goals.

Of teams from 34 countries, the Egyptian team was named the Enactus World Cup 2021 Champion for Cellurose, which tackles environmental and economic issues by converting an invasive aquatic plant into usable products while empowering local communities.

It was a unique pleasure for us to host a wonderful group of people from Enactus at the studio, along with a wonderful collection of broadcast professionals.

Recently, I sat down with @nycfairtrade Chair @abernadette11 for a thought provoking discussion on sustainability myths. The conversation changed my own thinking about sustainability, and I know it will do the same for you. Keep an eye out for the podcast, which will be released shortly in audio and video form.

In the meantime, I wanted to share with you some information on one of Andrea’s initiatives, the NYC Fair Trade Coalition’s Sustainable Fashion Community Center in East Harlem. I had the opportunity to stop in for a tour, and I was blown away by all the good stuff happening there. It is a truly inspiring initiative!

Up to $5,000 is available to New Jersey residents towards the purchase of an electric or hybrid car! It’s cash on the hood at participating dealerships towards a purchase or lease.

Just uploaded a video on @archhook to the blog. This innovative company makes the world’s first hangers made from reclaimed marine plastics.

In the UK alone, more than 950 million hangers are used each year.

The data reveals that 31 percent of the industry’s plastic hangers are used just for transportation to stores, and 50 percent of these are immediately discarded and replaced with display hangers upon reaching their destinations.

These 100% recyclable, fully closed-loop hangers debuted at London Fashion Week, and we’re excited to be using them at our new studio.
